Painting by numbers. 1,2,3, fire!

What Is It?

In its most basic form paintball is a game where players are trying to shoot each other using special markers (paint guns) that fire paint balls, a fragile gelatine shell filled with glycerine and food dye, which are designed to break on impact.

What We Do!

To make our games more interesting we commonly play in woodland which provides great natural cover. Within and around the woodland we've built some playing areas or zones which contain features like our 50 foot two storey castle and a wild west cowboy town.

We've been providing top quality paintball for over 10 years and like to think that we do paintball a little differently and better than our competitors. We have imaginative games and excellent playing areas, and we also have a real desire to make our guests feel welcome. We also think that paintball is great fun, and the fun can be enhanced by our staff not just marshalling the games but participating with the guests, encouraging and consoling them as well as joining in with the fun atmosphere.

The emphasis is always on fun, whether you're on a hen or stag party, a social event or a team building exercise. Whether your needs are just purely for entertainment or personnel development, we guarantee you'll have an entertaining and exciting time at Skirmish Bristol. Our games are designed to develop teamwork, communication skills and leadership qualities whilst fitting into your specific requirements and budget.

Task your team to infiltrate and capture the heavily guarded castle fortress that's a centre of operations for the enemy.

The Equipment We Use.

Guns.
Our armoury is stocked with the Tippmann model 98 semi-automatic paint gun. For three months we put on trial the Tippmann, the Inferno, the GZ2000, the Spider, the Mirage, the Boxer, the Stingray, the Thundercat, an Automag and an Autococker, all of which we knew to be good paint guns. After our trial was over the Tippmann was proven to be the best because of its ease of use, reliability and low maintenance costs, it also happens that it came out second only to an Autococker, a £400 gun in accuracy tests. In consultation with our customers who also liked the look of the Tippmann the best, we decided to stock the Tippmann and we haven't been disappointed.

Uniforms.
In line with the best in the industry we make sure that you are given a clean freshly laundered overall that fits you. We go one step further in making sure that you have a team uniform that is distinct from the other teams playing, as well as coloured armbands. This helps you to avoid being shot by your own team, a feature that we believe is exclusive to Skirmish Bristol.

Gloves.
All of our guests are provided with a pair of gloves to protect your hands when moving around our gaming areas.

Hats and Hoods.
Camouflage hats and hoods are also provided for your use to help protect your neck and head in addition to the googles.

Goggles.
We have two types of goggles, the V-Force system (as used by the presenters on "Mission Paintball") which utilise the very latest anti-mist technology, as well as having a simple to change lens. This ensures that the lenses get changed if they get scratched, not just when we can get time to change them. We also use JT Spectra Goggles which until the V-Force came along were the best money could buy, and are still the preferred goggles of many tournament players.

NB: We make anti-misting solutions and tissue freely available to our guests.

Some History.

The history of paintball is one that reaches across the water to America, but here in the UK, Skirmish Paintball has been one of the true pioneers in paintball and paintballing packages. In Scotland you'll find that Skirmish Paintball has not only the largest game playing area, with sites in Edinburgh and Glasgow, but is also keeping that pioneering paintball spirit alive as they evolve, developing the very best in paintball scenarios.

Paintball is considered a relatively young sport in the vast world of outdoor sport, recreation and adventure activity. Paintball first appeared in the UK in 1981, and has since experienced consistent and impressive growth.

From the humble beginnings of a single paintball centre way back in 1981, paintball is today one of the most popular outdoor sport and adventure activities here in the UK, with hundreds of centres covering almost every corner of each region.

Danger lurks behind every object and from every angle. Check those corners!

Player Equipment

Hover your mouse over the black panels below to reveal information on each of the items indicated on Paintball Pete.

Goggles

The V-FORCE goggles we use were chosen because of their comfort and their incredibly good lenses, which when we compared like for like with goggles made by JT, Scott and PMI stayed clearer for longer in conditions tat the others fogged up in seconds. We constantly upgrade and service our goggles. You will not use a pair of goggles on our site that has lenses over a year old. We do not believe that it is safe for our guests to not be able to see. Paper tissue and anti mist solution are always in plentiful supply and are available at no extra cost to our guests.

Gloves

Protective padded gloves are provided as part of your standard issue kit.

Hood

To protect your precious noggin (and neck) The hoods come with extra padding for your neck, ears and forehead, which we feel gives you fantastic protection from paintball hits. Also available if you wish are hats and scarves to suit your preference.

Camouflage Overalls

Depending on your team, you will have either british army or american marine style camo overalls, which are always freshly laundered. We have over 200 sets of overalls in stock to ensure that you get the best fit possible. Our sizes go from small to XXXXL. All of our overalls are kept in good repair and have not been in use for more than 18 months.

Battle Pack & Ammo Belt

Battle packs are provided to all of our guests to carry up to 400 rounds of ammo.

Weapon

Tippmann Model 98 Just pull the trigger and shoot , its that simple. All of our guns are regularly maintained and are also velocity checked every day that they are used. This means that the guns are more reliable and they are set to the same velocity so giving no-one an unfair advantage, and it means that we can use more fragile paintballs which break on impact not bounce (and they don't hurt so much) To the left is a gun put together with all of its component parts.

Body Armour*

Free hire to ladies.

Hopper

The hopper has a capacity of 200 paintballs and will safely keep your paintballs ready for use. Each hopper is numbered so that you can identify your own.

Carbon Dioxide C0²

All of our bottles are 1200 shot capacity and are regularly safety checked. We fill each bottle before you use it and it will have enough gas to fire around 1200 paintballs from a tippmann 98. Each of the bottles contains a pressure release safety valve which prevents the bottle from being overfilled. If you run out of gas, a replacement bottle will be fitted to your gun at no extra cost to you.

Barrel Bung

Barrel bungs are mandatory at the Twilight Zone. This little plug goes in to the barrel and stops a paintball coming out. Barrel bungs are fitted to each gun and guests are "encouraged" to use them.

Identification Band

Arm bands are provided to all of our guests to help them to identify their own team (and the enemy). These are in addition to each team being given a different style of uniform.
